Render for Optiup

Photorealistic renderings for Optiup exhibition at 2 Rivoli Street at Fuorisalone - Designweek 2014

The Optiup project represents an expression of creativity and design that I had the pleasure of helping to realize through the creation of photorealistic renderings. Optiup, a partition designed for public spaces, is a revisited homage to the optical style of the 1960s, brought up to date through oval shapes and the use of a material with a honeycomb structure.

The project was the brainchild of three students from the Milan Polytechnic, Lucia Francia, Elisa Bizzotto and Elena de Berti. Their request was to have a series of renders that could illustrate in detail the nature of the partition, highlighting its shapes, the structure of the materials and the interaction with light. These images would then form the promotional material for the display of the partition during Fuorisalone, as part of the 2014 Milan Design Week.

My challenge was to create a series of renders that could faithfully represent not only the physical appearance of Optiup, but also its spirit. I tried to create images that would communicate the elegance, lightness, and texturality of the partition, as well as the interesting play of light and reflections created by the honeycomb structure of the material. I worked on both macro and ambient renders, always trying to highlight the special interaction between the object and its surroundings.
