Quadra

Oxy Tools professional film cutter

During my activity as design contact person at Terenzi S.r.l., I had the task of managing an ambitious project: the realization of the Quadra cutter. This tool was born from the collaboration with Mario Cipponi of MC Pellicole, through a codesign process that allowed us to face and solve several technical challenges, transforming the original idea into a functional, robust and versatile product.

The Quadra project represents an interesting case study in the field of industrial design. Starting from the concept phase, I took charge of every aspect of the project, from the creation of the working drawings to the definition of the bills of materials and processes, with the aim of optimizing costs along the entire supply chain. During the production of the pilot series, I closely followed each step, working closely with the customer until the product launch.

The Quadra cutter is available in two versions-the Quadra 160 (170cm x 42cm x 30cm) and Quadra 190 (200cm x 42cm x 30cm)-and is designed to meet the specific needs of the film industry. Operation of this cutter is completely mechanical and manual, does not require connection to the power supply, and has a low weight, making it easily transportable.

The Quadra 2.0 model introduces several improvements aimed at optimizing the production process, improving the dynamics of use, and increasing cutting precision. For example, the handle-wheel has been reversed to achieve better balance, the guide supports/plates have been redesigned and enhanced with a double axial bearing, and a digital "DIGIT" meter counter has been added for accurate material reading.

Another new feature of the Quadra 2.0 concerns the aesthetic aspect: the logo and lettering have been laser engraved, eliminating the use of stickers and giving the product a more professional and durable appearance.

The Quadra project illustrates the process of transforming an idea into a concrete product through a path involving various aspects of industrial design and production. The experience gained and the feedback received from clients have been instrumental in the development of this tool, which has proven capable of responding effectively to market needs.
