Elie Saab Boutique Entrance

Metal finishes and signage for Boutique on Via del Gesù Milan

During my professional career, I had the privilege of working on a project that involved a collaboration between the prestigious Lebanese fashion house Elie Saab, the commissioned architectural firm, and the general contractor Exa. My role was instrumental in engineering and industrializing the designs created by the art direction to ensure flawless implementation of the satin-finish brass-plated steel cladding elements and signs at the entrance to the Elie Saab Maison in the heart of Milan.

Planium's R&D team was able to meet the challenges of the project, starting from site surveys and architect drawings to the creation of a 3D virtual model of the showroom entrance. The design of the custom docking systems and the subdivision of the cladding were developed in co-design with the contracted architectural firm.

Selection of stainless steel sheets, cutting by fiber laser technology, bending by press-benders, welding of details and illuminated logos by laser, and precision hand-assembly by skilled personnel were just some of the intricate steps involved in the realization of this project.

The biggest challenge was feasibility: with such a detailed and varied project, carried out in just two months during the summer, there was little room for error, either in planning management or design. The impossibility of making intermediate prototypes meant making a high-quality, error-free product at a stroke.
