Planium Fuorisalone 2023

Design of Planium's products and layout for Fuorisalone 2023.

The Planium Fuorisalone 2023 project represents a moment of shining expression of contemporary design, an intense intersection of ideas, forms, materials and lights. As project leader, I had the opportunity to lead a team of three people within the research and development department of Terenzi S.r.l.

Our task has been to interpret the designers' initial ideas, turn them into technical drawings, build prototypes, and finally industrialize and engineer the products. Through our skill and dedication, we brought to life unique objects of complementary furnishings made of sheet steel, copper and oxidized brass, embellished by decorative oxidation techniques.

The most significant achievement of this journey was the creation of the Shadow Light light works, designed by the duo Galante-Lancman. These lamps, with their arched, spherical and ovoid shapes, create atmospheric light through inlaid ribs that look like lace in natural and oxidized brass.

Another distinctive element of the project was the exhibition design, conceived as an aluminum gazebo 4 meters on each side, entirely covered with brass-plated chains. This structure, gleaming and golden, created a dreamlike atmosphere, a play of reflections and hues that welcomed visitors, inviting them to discover the works on display. Shadow Light lamps were hung inside the gazebo, creating an evocative play of light and shadow.

The installation also included the mirror Issiba, a work by Matteo Tampone. This mirrored monolith, made with a stainless mirror sheet exterior and an oxidized copper inner layer, invites visitors on a journey into the material ocean. The jagged laser-cut surface combines opaque and reflective zones, creating a fascinating interplay of reflections and depth. Oxidation in this work takes on a third dimension: from a flat surface, it rises and adds depth, inviting one to search for its own broken silhouette that appears unexpectedly in its details.

Finally, the project saw the creation of "Cosmo," a table with circular surfaces in satin-finished steel, and "Flow," a decorative panel designed by Donatella Nobilio, enriched with calamine, steel, brass and copper, which was awarded the "Business for Art" prize at the 17th Arte Laguna Prize Venice 2022/23.
